Traveling can be quite exciting and while a lot of people haven’t really taken that first step towards their first adventure due to their circumstances, there are a few travel hacks that will help them prepare for their travel. Even professional travelers have their own travel hacks to save money, avoid stress, and save themselves from getting lost.
Travel tips for beginners and frequent travelers
1. Do your research
When going to a certain place or country, it is important to get acquainted with the location.
2. Know more about the place you are going to
Learn the do’s and don’ts especially if the country is rich in culture. You do not want to do something that is offensive to them.
3. Learn a little about the language
If you are traveling to a foreign place with a different language, don’t expect them to speak english. Look up videos of some of their basic phrases.
4. Print out translated phrases
“Can we go to _______?”, “How much is this?”, “Where is ____?” are some basic phrases that you can print out so they can read what you are trying to say.
5. Make sure to convert into the right currency
In some places, converting your money might be really hard. This is why it is important to prepare a budget for your trip. Also, make sure you add a little extra to that budget.
6. Always have a money bag under your shirt
Having a money bag tucked away is the best way to protect your money. Sometimes, a wallet just isn’t enough.
7. Try to make a contact in that area
Having friends from the area really helps but if there are none, there are some backpacker apps that get people acquainted with other people within the area.
8. Bring padlocks
Bring your own locks especially if you are staying in a budget hotel or inn and need to leave your laptop or other things behind.
9. Don’t bring expensive jewelry
If you don’t need something, don’t bring it. Especially if it is quite expensive. Try wearing a budget watch and leave your jewelries like earrings, necklaces, and bracelets at home.
10. Learn the transportation beforehand
Sometimes, the transportation routes are up online. If they are not, get familiar with the local transportation aside from taxis namely motorcycles, cars for rent, vans, buses, and etc.
These travel tips are not just for those beginner travelers but also for those that frequently travel. These tips focus on security as well as helping you get by in a different place or country.
